And Moses said unto God, Who am
I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of
Israel out of Egypt?
Ex 3:11
We learnt that Paul chose to obey the ‘heavenly
vision’ and did take on the assignment given to him by God.
Did Moses not want to Israel to be delivered? Very
much so! He had even tried to achieve this on his own.
But we see him struggle with obeying God’s calling
on his life.
Moses asked two questions:
a)Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?
b)Who am I that I should bring
forth the children of Israel out of Egypt.
1.Perception
of self
Before we can accept the call of God on our lives,
we need to change how we look at ourselves. Doubts about ourselves can be a
hindrance to taking up our assignments.
Moses viewed himself as a failure, basing on his
present circumstances.
Yes he failed when he tried on his own to save
Israel.
Let the presence of God on your life become your new
identity!
“Certainly I
will be with thee”
Ex 3:12
Elijah knew who he was.
2 Ki 17:1
God’s presence in your life qualifies you to go to
your assigned Pharaoh.
1.Perception
of the enemy
Moses thought that he was no match for the ‘great’
Pharaoh.
At that time Egypt was the super power of the know
world and Pharaoh was the most powerful person on earth then.
Most missions have a ‘strongman’ as an opponent.
A wrong perception of the challenges in mission will
affect our ability to accept the mission.
Anything looks big if there is nothing else to
compare it with.
When we are look to God, every challenge is dwarfed.
Who art thou, O
great mountain?
Zec 4:7
Perception
of the mission
Do we value the mission or the people to whom we are
sent?
The people of Israel had rejected Moses’ help. To
him they did not deserve any more help
We want to serve God, but do we value His people?
Remember God calls them “MY PEOPLE”
Ex 3:7
Jesus died on the cross for the very people who
condemned Him to death.
Moses did not trust the people
Will the people believe me?
Ex 4:1
The fear of not being believed will stand in your
way to the mission.
God gives us favor with the people so they can
believe!
